Assistant Controller

Vaco has partnered with our client to hire an Assistant Controller to join their team! This position is hybrid with 3 days required onsite.

• Oversee daily accounting functions (AP, AR, general ledger, payroll)
• Prepare financial statements for multiple business units
• Assist with budgeting and financial forecasts
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and statutory accounting for insurance
• Support audits and maintain internal controls
• Lead and develop a team of accountants
• Manage cash flow and short-term investments; handle banking relationships
• Compile data for reinsurance processes
• Contribute to special projects as needed

• 3+ years of accounting or finance experience
• Knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting (insurance focus)
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA a plus)
• Strong Excel and accounting system skills
• Experience managing or mentoring a team
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities
• Proactive and collaborative mindset
