**** Salary £55,000 - £65,000 depending on experience
**** The Opportunity
** We are seeking an experienced, dedicated and proactive Business Development Manager/Bid Writer to join our high‑profile National Commercial Team. This is a key role focused on strengthening our industry‑leading bid capability, helping us secure more strategic opportunities, and positioning Heidelberg Materials UK at the forefront of major client initiatives, particularly around carbon, social value, and digitalisation.
** Job Purpose
*** Deliver high‑quality, compliant bids and tenders within required time frames.
* Identify win themes aligned with National Highways, local authorities and other key clients, and translate these into compelling bid responses.
* Manage the contracting tender pipeline in collaboration with the contracting commercial team.
* Develop supporting documentation such as case studies and capability materials in partnership with the National Commercial and Contracting teams.
* Review submitted bids, identify weaknesses and implement action plans to drive continuous improvement.
** Accountabilities

** Knowledge and Skills Required
*** Degree‑level education.
* Proven experience in bid writing within a commercial environment.
* Demonstrable track record of winning major project bids, particularly in the contracting sector.
* Strong network of industry contacts.
* Excellent writing and communication skills with the ability to produce high‑quality submissions.
* A proactive, positive mindset with a drive for continuous development.
