General Labor
Under general supervision, performs skilled work in construction, maintenance, and operation of energized or deenergized overhead and underground distribution, services, and street lighting. Employee is committed to achieving the highest goal of excellence of servicing our customers and working with fellow employees.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate installation of all single-phase and three-phase applications in the electrical distribution system. Install overhead, underground conductors, poles, streetlights, wiring and associated materials. Build and connect transformer banks, set pad mounts, and hang transformers.
- Enter easements not accessible by trucks, climb poles, pull wire, and enter/exit ditches, and heavy vegetation in rights-of-way.
- Operate utility equipment including but not limited to bucket truck, digger truck, trencher, chain saws, tree pruners, chippers, backhoe, and other equipment.
- Install underground primary and secondary. Install street light poles, streetlights, and wiring.
- Troubleshoot electric distribution problems. Work 24/7 on-call rotation and extended hours as needed, including nights and weekends.
- Operate substation equipment and sectionalizing devices.
- Read, translate, and describe work order drawings, maps, and processes.
- Assist other departments and perform other related duties as assigned.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
- Stand, walk, and move around in outdoor settings for extended periods.
A Lineman primarily works in a field setting. This role may require extensive overtime, especially during peak periods or emergencies.
Job Related Qualifications- Minimum of 3 years of experience.
- Graduation of apprentice lineman school preferred.
- Must hold at least Class B CDL.
