Audit Committee Public Member

Overview

Yellowknife Education District No.1 (YEDN1) is seeking a public member for its Audit Committee. The Committee, composed of two elected trustees and three public members, oversees the preparation of audited financial statements, internal controls, and compliance with external reporting regulations.

• Ensure accountability of management in preparing the District’s audited financial statements.
• Ensure appropriate internal controls exist and are maintained.
• Collaborate with the external auditor to ensure compliance with external reporting regulations.
• Commit time to fulfill Audit Committee duties.
• Act independently of the District.
• Shun any financial or personal interests with the accounting firm Mac Kay & Partners.

• Commitment of time to Audit Committee responsibilities.
• Independence from the District.
• No financial or personal interests with Mac Kay & Partners.
• Professional accounting experience; one public member must hold CPA designation.

Public members will be compensated for their time on the Audit Committee.
