Registered Dietitian (Virtual, Contract)
About SukoonSukoon is a virtual mental health and wellbeing platform offering culturally grounded care for mind and body. Our approach is rooted in evidence‑based practice, emotional safety, and cultural understanding — particularly for individuals navigating stress, family dynamics, identity, and life transitions.
At Sukoon, nutrition care goes beyond meal plans. We focus on helping clients build a healthier, more sustainable relationship with food, their bodies, and themselves — in ways that are compassionate, realistic, and culturally relevant.
The RoleWe are seeking a Registered Dietitian who is comfortable working at the intersection of nutrition, mental health, and behaviour change.
You will support clients experiencing concerns such as stress, burnout, emotional eating, body image challenges, and mental health‑related symptoms (e.g., anxiety, low mood, trauma) with an understanding of cultural nuances.
Caseload & Flexibility- Flexible minimum session requirement to start
- Ability to offer limited availability (e.g., 1–3 time blocks per week)
- Caseload will ramp up gradually as client demand builds
- Well‑suited to be held alongside an existing role or private practice
We are transparent that this is an early‑stage offering and are seeking practitioners who value flexibility, alignment, and long‑term collaboration.
What You’ll Do- Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments and provide individualized, client‑centred nutrition counselling
- Support clients navigating emotional eating, stress, burnout, body image concerns, and mental health‑related challenges through nutrition‑informed care
- Integrate emotional, cultural, and lifestyle factors into nutrition recommendations
- Work collaboratively with Sukoon’s multidisciplinary team, including therapists and other mental health professionals where needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with professional standards and clinic guidelines
- Stay current with emerging research and best practices related to nutrition, behaviour change, and mental health
- Opportunity to contribute to future group education or workshops as Sukoon’s programming evolves (optional)
- Are a Registered Dietitian (RD) in good standing with a Canadian provincial regulatory body
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field
- Have experience in private practice, community‑based care, or virtual nutrition counselling
- Are comfortable supporting clients with mental health‑adjacent concerns (e.g., anxiety, stress, emotional eating, body image)
- Take a behaviour‑change and relationship‑based approach to nutrition (not meal‑plan‑only care)
- Communicate warmly, clearly, and thoughtfully
- Are comfortable starting with a low, flexible caseload and growing over time
- Can work independently while collaborating within a team‑oriented care environment
- Experience with eating‑disorder‑informed, trauma‑informed, or mental‑health‑informed nutrition care in a fully virtual setting.
- Familiarity with South Asian foods, cultural contexts, or family dynamics
- Experience collaborating with therapists or other mental health providers
- Comfort working within weight‑neutral or non‑diet frameworks
This role may not be the right fit if your work is primarily:
- Acute‑care or hospital‑based only
- Highly protocol‑driven medical nutrition without behavioural counselling
- Focused exclusively on prescriptive meal plans or weight‑loss outcomes
- Flexible, low‑commitment start
- Values‑driven, thoughtful care model
- Opportunity to help shape and grow Sukoon’s nutrition offering from the ground up
- Collaborative, mental‑health‑informed environment
- Long‑term partnership as demand grows
- Competitive per‑session contractor split
- Transparent and fair structure
- Paid per completed session
