Join Stanton Territorial Hospital's Microbiology team in Yellowknife and play a key role in supporting patient care and public health across the Northwest Territories. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist I, you will use advanced laboratory techniques and technology to identify infectious diseases, provide critical diagnostic information, and help healthcare professionals make informed treatment decisions in a dynamic and rewarding healthcare environment

• Prepare, culture, analyze, and interpret a variety of biological samples.
• Operate complex laboratory instrumentation and perform manual microbiological testing.
• Verify and release accurate patient results through the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Perform quality control, proficiency testing, equipment calibration, and corrective actions as required
• Troubleshoot laboratory equipment and perform routine preventative maintenance
• Provide technical guidance and education to laboratory staff and healthcare professionals.
• Deliver exceptional customer service to patients, healthcare providers, and community partners.

• Completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Technology Program at a minimum of a diploma or degree level from an accredited Canadian Post-Secondary Institution.
• Relevant experience in a microbiology laboratory within the past five (5) years.
• Internationally educated Medical Laboratory Technologists must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience working as a Medical Laboratory Technologist in a Canadian hospital microbiology laboratory.

• Applicants must be registered with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science at the General Registered Technologist designation. New graduates waiting to write their certification examination will be considered however; registration must be achieved prior to beginning employment with Laboratory Services. Registration must be maintained throughout the period of employment with Laboratory Services.

The successful incumbent will receive a $10,000 supplement upon hire and an additional $10,000 supplement after completion of 12 months of continuous employment contingent on remaining employed in an eligible position for a further 12 months. This is a taxable benefit and will be subject to applicable deductions.

The Labour Market Supplement is in effect for positions staffed before September 30, 2026.

This position involves a Rotating/Irregular Shift Schedule which may change due to operational requirements.

Candidates must clearly identify their eligibility in order to receive priority consideration under the Indigenous Employment Policy.

Candidates must provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector check. Failure to provide a satisfactory check may deem you disqualified from the competition.

The successful candidate will be required to obtain proof of current up-to-date immunization status.

Eligible for current registration/certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science is mandatory for this position.
