AWS Data Architect – Hybrid Cloud, Data Migration and Legacy Modernization
We are seeking an AWS Data Architect with strong experience in hybrid cloud environments, on premise to AWS migrations, ETL modernization and legacy system analysis. This professional will lead the transformation of traditional on premise systems including databases, applications, ETL pipelines and BI workloads into scalable and modern cloud architectures.
You will work across multiple business verticals such as HR, Corporate Finance and Real Estate, partnering with Cloud Engineering, Cloud Operations, BI, Data and Application teams. The ideal candidate is hands on, autonomous and comfortable reverse engineering environments with limited documentation.
Key Responsibilities Cloud Architecture and Migration Strategy- Lead end to end migration of on premise systems including databases, applications, ETL and BI workloads to AWS
- Define migration strategies such as lift and shift, re platform and modernization
- Architect solutions using AWS services including S3, Glue, Athena, DMS, EC2, Lambda, RDS or Aurora and IAM
- Ensure data and application continuity for systems that remain on premise
- Contribute to data lake and analytical architecture design
- Work with Oracle, SQL Server, ODI, legacy ETL flows, Java, Angular, OBIEE or OAS, SSRS and BI Publisher
- Analyze and document complex legacy systems with minimal documentation
- Assess Oracle and SQL Server structures including dependencies, triggers, procedures and business logic
- Review ODI mappings, packages, workflows and transformations
- Evaluate Java and Angular applications and their data interactions
- Analyze BI metadata layers and report logic in OBIEE or OAS, SSRS and BI Publisher
- Map batch processes, integrations and data flows across HR, Finance and Real Estate
- Design hybrid architectures spanning on premise and AWS environments
- Support scenarios where significant workloads remain on premise
- Build synchronization patterns for on premise ETL sustaining local applications
- Design cloud ingestion frameworks for analytics and reporting
- Ensure reliability and performance across hybrid data flows
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams on Direct Connect, VPN and networking configurations
- Translate business logic from Oracle and SQL Server into cloud native technologies
- Modernize ETL from ODI to AWS Glue, Python and SQL using Athena or PostgreSQL
- Re-implement complex transformation rules preserving business logic
- Support semantic layer design, data modeling and analytical dataset creation
- Migrate BI workloads from OBIEE or OAS, SSRS and BI Publisher to AWS
- Rebuild and validate BI logic within cloud architectures
- Apply dimensional modeling, data marts and semantic layer concepts
- Partner with BI teams on testing and rollout activities
- Operate within established cloud guardrails, IAM policies and security frameworks
- Ensure architecture alignment with organizational standards
- Collaborate with Cloud Engineering and Cloud Operations for governance and infrastructure
- Engage with business analysts, data owners and application teams
- Work across diverse business domains with complex data landscapes
- Maintain alignment with cloud, BI, data and application initiatives
- Strong experience designing hybrid cloud architectures combining on premise and AWS
- Deep knowledge of Oracle and SQL Server including advanced logic
- Hands on experience with ODI or ODEE and ETL reverse engineering
- Experience with Tableau, Qlik, Thought Spot or similar BI tools
- Understanding of Java, Angular and reporting or BI applications
- Experience with OBIEE or OAS, SSRS and BI Publisher
- Solid knowledge of data modeling, data warehouse and analytical systems
- Proficiency with AWS services including S3, Glue, Athena, DMS, EC2, Lambda, RDS or Aurora and IAM
- Experience with hybrid connectivity such as Direct Connect and VPN
- Proficiency in Python
- Highly independent and comfortable working in ambiguous environments
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Curious and proactive learner able to quickly master unfamiliar systems
- Ownership driven and hands on mindset
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work across diverse business and technical environments
- Experience with financial or banking data domains
- AWS Certifications such as Solutions Architect, Data Engineer or Developer
