School Wellness Worker

The Government of Northwest Territories is inviting all the candidates to show their interest for this post of school wellness worker. Responsibilities   Candidates working at this post are appointed to provide a variety of individual, family, group and mental health and referral services to help students and families.
They’re also appointed to work with the school team to create, establish, and promote preventative measures to promote positive mental health and help promote positive healthy lifestyles.
Candidates are also required to be familiar with many of the challenges facing students and families at home, school and in the community, and work with them to encourage full and healthy participation in school and in the community.
Qualifications   They must have dedicated knowledge of child and family development to be eligible for this post.
They must have knowledge of current student wellness best practices and approaches to be eligible for this post.
Candidates must have knowledge of the trans-generational impact of residential schooling to be eligible for this post.
They must have knowledge of cultural factors that impact learning and social issues experienced by students or families.
Candidates must attains the ability to interact in a non-judgemental, culturally sensitive and empathetic manner
They must have written, verbal and listening skills to be eligible for this post.
They must have Interpersonal, conflict management and resolution skills to be eligible for this post.
They must attain the ability to work independently and as part of a team to be eligible for this post.
They must attain the ability to work in a multicultural setting with young people, staff and parents.
Work setting   A post secondary program in the social science field and one (1) year if experience providing support programs for children and families
