Moving Truck Driver

Education

College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.

Various locations. Willing to relocate. Relocation costs not covered by employer.

• Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, GPS, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
• Address customers' complaints or concerns.
• Coach colleagues on new methods or work techniques. Professionalism in customer service.
• Load and unload goods. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
• Oversee vehicle condition; inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment.
• Pay and receive payments for goods.
• Perform brake adjustments and emergency roadside repairs.
• Perform pre‑trip, en route and post‑trip inspection; oversee all aspects of vehicle.
• Perform preventive maintenance; receive and relay information to central dispatch.
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
• Tarp cargo and ensure safety and security of cargo.

• Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi‑trailer trucks)
• Class 2/2F/C Licence (buses with more than passengers)
• Class 3/3F/DF Licence (trailer truck, vehicles with more than 3 axles)
• Class 5/5F/G Licence (cars, small trucks and other 2‑axle vehicles)
