Ready to take ownership of projects where your commercial expertise genuinely makes a difference?
If you're a contractor-side Quantity Surveyor who enjoys being at the heart of project delivery-not stuck behind spreadsheets-this is an opportunity to join a growing, ambitious business where your expertise is valued, your ideas are heard, and your impact is visible.
You'll work on a diverse mix of construction, fit-out and shopfitting projects, partnering closely with project teams to drive commercial success from start to finish.
We're looking for a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor with experience in SME construction, interior fit-out, shopfitting or specialist subcontracting. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives on taking ownership, building strong relationships and influencing project outcomes.
Please note:
This role requires practical contractor-side Quantity Surveying experience. Applicants whose background is solely within consultancy, professional services, cost management or PQS environments are unlikely to have the project delivery experience required.
What you'll be doing
You'll take full commercial responsibility for projects from award through to final account, ensuring costs are controlled, risks are managed and projects are delivered profitably. Working alongside Project Managers, clients and subcontractors, you'll play a key role in commercial decision-making while helping to deliver outstanding project outcomes.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing project costs from contract award through to final account
Preparing budgets, forecasts, cost reports and commercial updates
Assessing, pricing and negotiating variations
Managing valuations, payment applications, contractual notices and final accounts
Procuring subcontractor packages, analysing tenders and negotiating agreements
Reviewing and managing subcontractor accounts and payments
Identifying commercial risks and opportunities and implementing effective controls
Supporting Project Managers with commercial advice throughout project delivery
Building strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers
Applying your knowledge of construction contracts, including JCT and NEC where appropriate
Ensuring compliance with RICS professional standards and company procedures
This is more than just another QS role. It's an opportunity to become part of a growing, entrepreneurial business where you'll have real influence, genuine autonomy and plenty of opportunity to develop your career.
You'll benefit from:
A competitive salary of £55,000-£65,000
Hybrid working with projects across the Midlands and South West
A collaborative team where your contribution is recognised
A varied portfolio of construction, fit-out and shopfitting projects
Real ownership of projects and commercial decision-making
Close collaboration with senior leaders and project delivery teams
Ongoing professional development and career progression
The chance to make a measurable impact on both project success and business growth
