Youth Worker within Schools

The Role - Youth Worker within Schools

As a Youth Worker within Schools, you will play a hands‑on role supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs. Your work will focus on building trust, promoting positive choices and helping pupils engage with learning.

  • Provide tailored support to pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Help students with SEMH needs, ASD, communication difficulties or learning challenges manage their day positively.
  • Encourage pupils to participate in lessons, activities and social opportunities.
  • Support emotional regulation, independence and resilience.
  • Assist with daily routines and personal care where required (full training can be provided).
  • Build strong, consistent relationships with students to help them develop confidence.
  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral leads and other support staff to follow behaviour and support plans.

  • Provides a restorative, nurturing approach for pupils who may struggle with routine or behaviour.
  • Ensures all staff are supported, trained and valued.
  • The school is within easy reach of Swindon, Wootton Bassett, Highworth, Wroughton and surrounding areas.
Requirements for the Youth Worker within Schools Role
  • Be patient, resilient and confident working with young people.
  • Have experience supporting children or teenagers (youth work, coaching, care, mentoring or school experience all welcome).
  • Be comfortable supporting pupils with additional needs and varied emotional or behavioural needs.
  • Be able to build positive, consistent relationships.
  • Preferably hold a DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to complete one.
  • Be open to ongoing training and development.
Salary

£445 - £500 per week, depending on experience.
