Location: South Petherton

Overview

Full‑time Study Skills Lecturer (Regular Openings) – Developing curriculum‑level study skills across HE programmes from Foundation to Masters level. Roles with BSU, UoS, OBU partnerships in London (Greenford or East London).

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Designing bespoke courses, digital resources and workshop plans to embed study skills into curricula.
  • Delivering and evaluating teaching, identifying improvement opportunities aligned with the GBS Learning and Teaching strategy.
  • Providing written and oral feedback on academic writing and other study skills to students.
  • Conducting tutorial consultations, giving constructive comments and suggesting learning improvement strategies.
  • Recording appointment details for evaluation and quality purposes, and referring students to other services.
  • Using the VLE, research resources and online activities to facilitate student learning.
  • Contributing to GBS quality assurance systems and processes.
About You
  • A Master’s degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable).
  • Previous UK HE lecturing experience in the subject area.
  • A successful teaching track record with adult learners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience in providing individual and group study‑skills support.
  • Willingness to lead a literacy area such as reading, writing, critical thinking, numeracy, digital skills, research skills or dissertation support.
  • High level of digital literacy and advanced communication skills.
Desirable Qualities
  • Expertise in digital educational resources development, course design and curriculum development.
  • DELTA qualification.
  • Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or commitment to enroll during probation).
  • Fellowship of HEA or international equivalent.
