Location: Over Stratton

Axcis Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant (SEND TA) to join a large, inclusive secondary school in Swindon from September. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity, working 8:30am-3:30pm during term time, with the potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support a range of Key Stage 3 (KS3) students within the school's well-established SEN resource provision. Working alongside a skilled and supportive team, you will help students access learning, build confidence, and achieve their individual goals.

Pupils' Needs
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Communication and Language Difficulties (CLD)
  • Challenging behaviour
  • Social, emotional, and learning needs

A calm, patient, and adaptable approach is essential for success in this role.

Desirable Skills and Experience
  • PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System)
  • British Sign Language (BSL)
  • Makaton
  • Supporting non-verbal students
  • Working within secondary education or specialist SEN settings
The Ideal Candidate Will
  • Have previous experience supporting students with SEN/SEND, ideally those with Autism (ASD)
  • Be confident adapting learning activities to meet individual needs
  • Think creatively and respond effectively to changing situations
  • Work well independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Build positive relationships and strong rapport with young people
  • Demonstrate patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
