Overview
Boeing Defence United Kingdom Limited requires a Publications support specialist to support a range of Technical Publications, including Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM) and Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM). The role supports contract requirements with a Safety and First Time Quality mindset within an integrated team environment. The Publications Lead will be supported in the day-to-day execution of aircraft publications deliverables to meet contract requirements, including publication discrepancy reports (MoD F765), generation of amendments and updates to the Air System Document Set, and review of technical support publications for grammar, format, and style per guidelines.
The candidate will contribute to establishing standards and guidelines for technical document structure and format, recommend content edits to improve clarity and readability, research source data to verify technical accuracy, and participate in reviews with internal teams and customers. The role includes maintaining document configuration, data files and archives, and ensuring First Time Quality across publication updates in line with quality management system requirements.
The post may interface between the customer and other key stakeholders in the absence of the Publications Lead, so strong communication skills are essential. An understanding of the MoD Unsatisfactory Feature Reporting (UFR) process (MoD F765), aircraft and component maintenance procedures, and the ability to gather and analyse customer requirements are required.
- Support the Publications Lead in day-to-day execution of aircraft publications deliverables to meet contract requirements (publication discrepancy reports MoD F765) and updates to the Air System Document Set.
- Review technical support publications for grammatical errors, format and style per guidelines; contribute to establishing standards for technical document structure and format.
- Research source data to verify technical accuracy; participate in internal and customer reviews.
- Maintain document configuration, data files and archives; ensure First Time Quality for all publication updates.
- Interface with customer and other stakeholders in the absence of the Publications Lead; develop strong communication skills.
- Understand MoD UFR process (MoD F765), aircraft and component maintenance procedures.
- Gather/analyze customer requirements; research and compile source technical information to assess requests for change per documented processes.
- Determine graphic and authoring requirements and develop detailed estimates/work sheets for integration into applicable documents.
- Demonstrate ability to multi-task in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Prior aviation maintenance experience is desirable; occasional travel may be required.
Basic Qualifications (Skills/Experience): Conversant with ASD S1000D and/or AVP
70. Previous experience in the Aviation Technical Publication (CMM, AMM, EMM, IPC) authoring environment is essential. Experience with Simplified Technical English. Understanding of Support Engineering as applied to a maintenance environment. Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance is essential.
Preferred Qualifications (Skills/Experience): Focus on delivering First Time Quality with attention to detail and alignment with supporting engineering documentation. Ability to work with cross-functional departments to deliver outputs compliant with organisational processes. Previous experience with MoD Form 765 processes; experience liaising with internationally located teams including Design Organization (DO) interfaces. Rotary-wing publications authoring experience is preferred but not essential. Experience creating graphics is desirable but not essential.
