We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading aerospace engineering organisation based in Yeovil. This is an excellent opportunity to work on innovative aerospace projects, contributing to the design and development of advanced mechanical systems within a collaborative engineering environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop concept designs supported by engineering analysis.
Produce detailed mechanical designs using 2D and 3D CAD.
Create and maintain engineering drawings, drawing packs, and supporting documentation.
Carry out tolerance analysis and process engineering changes.
Liaise with Production Engineering and Production Planning to ensure designs are optimised for manufacture.
Deliver engineering projects in line with agreed schedules and project milestones.
Work in accordance with engineering procedures, standards, and best practices.
Skills & ExperienceMinimum 2+ years' experience in mechanical design, ideally involving precision components.
Experience using 3D CAD, preferably Siemens NX.
Competent in both 2D and 3D CAD.
Basic understanding of Configuration Control.
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
Understanding of machining, manufacturing techniques, and design for manufacture principles.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma is advantageous.
Strong communication skills with a customer-focused and results-driven approach.
Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, multi-project engineering environment.
QualificationsDegree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred but not essential.
Candidates with relevant engineering experience and a strong technical background will also be considered.
