Overview

Are you ready to step into a high-impact role where you’ll shape how we manage Trade Credit across one of the UK’s fastest-growing retailers?

As Trade Credit Finance Manager
, you’ll report to the Senior Finance Manager and take full ownership of managing Trade Credit debt and risk. You’ll play a key role in supporting the growth of our Trade Credit proposition – a vital part of the Screwfix offer to our customers.

You’ll lead a small team and be the main point of contact for our third-party credit partners, making sure those relationships are strong and performance stays on track. Collaboration is key – you’ll work closely with our B2B Key Accounts team, Proposition, and Kingfisher to make sure our credit facility evolves with the business.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a team of underwriting and legal assistants – including but not limited to their coaching, development, management and delegation of tasks, and setting expectations
  • Manage our third-party relationships which support our Trade Credit proposition, challenging operational performance and identify potential improvements to current processes.
  • Manage risks & opportunities ensuring our Trade Credit proposition is future proofed.
  • Manage current risk exposure across the Trade Credit debt book, understanding the impact of market trends and the Commercial environment.
  • Drive efficiencies and improvements into the business, focusing on the management of our debt and customers.
  • Be responsible for formulating, maintaining, and providing advice/guidance on credit policy and procedures to mitigate risk.
  • Be responsible for debt recoveries, fraud reduction and legal processes.
  • Review customer information from various financial and credit referencing agencies for the purposes of assessing credit worthiness for new and existing customers.
  • Support internal and external audits as required.
  • Support business transformation activities as required.
  • Ensure all standard operating procedures are complete and updated annually.
  • Ensure compliance with the Group Financial Reporting Manual and Screwfix internal controls.
  • Where appropriate, elevate risks/issues to Senior for review, mitigation and discussion.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities which support continuous improvement as part of Screwfix Smart Working.
Qualifications
  • Good understanding of how to interpret Company accounts and risk is essential.
  • Must demonstrate a good level of commercial acumen possessing the ability to weigh up risk versus reward.
  • Proven experience of granting credit limits (under writing / credit vetting).
  • Legal Understanding of limited and non-limited organisations.
  • Experience of managing Third Parties, both establishing and maintaining relationships.
  • KPI management, establishing and monitoring performance.
  • Ability to develop solutions to problems and identify process improvement opportunities.
