Assistant Accountant

Location:

Yeovil (Hybrid) Rate: £25-£30 per hour (Umbrella)

We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our clients team on a contract running until December 2026.

This role offers hybrid working, with 2-3 days per week in the Yeovil office during the first month, reducing to a minimum of 1 day per week thereafter.

We welcome applicants who are part‑qualified or QBE, but you must have a solid understanding of VAT and Tax.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Tax Manager, you will support monthly compliance activities for UK and international indirect tax reporting, as well as employer duty compliance for the Leonardo UK Ltd legal entity. You'll play a key role in day‑to‑day tax operations, including VAT, overseas equivalents, PAYE, and various ad hoc tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare monthly UK and international VAT returns

Perform monthly reconciliations on all Employee Benefits in Kind, investigating and resolving discrepancies

Assist with P11D and PAYE Settlement Agreement calculations, statistical returns, and ad hoc information requests

Support annual Short‑Term Business Visitor (STBV) reporting requirements

Reconcile tax general ledger accounts and post journals

Liaise with internal departments on relevant tax matters

Provide wider support to the tax team as required
