An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive, dynamic and inspiring Band 5 Physiotherapist to join the Physiotherapy Team at Yeovil District Hospital.

Main duties of the job

Provide evidence-based physiotherapy in the clinical areas as part of a 7-day service

Provide clinical support, guidance and supervision for students, apprentices and Rehabilitation Assistants working within the Team

Play an active role in the development of students and Rehabilitation Assistants, alongside senior clinical staff

Provide advice regarding the rehabilitation management of patients to families, carers and the other members of the MDT

Have a broad understanding of Physiotherapy specialities and of wider departmental and/or professional issues

Partake in weekend working, respiratory on-call duties and other clinical extended hours services as rotations require

Maintains good communication, liaison and working arrangements with other Trust teams, Trusts and external agencies

To use communication tools (verbal and non verbal) to gain valid informed consent with patients where there will often be barriers to effective communication e.g. loss of hearing, altered perception, expressive and receptive dysphasia, pain, fear. To have the capacity to work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment e.g. those with cognitive or speech difficulties.

Specification Qualifications
  • * Diploma/degree in Physiotherapy
  • * HCPC registration
  • * Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including evidence of recent postgraduate learning
  • * Able to demonstrate a good standard of English language
  • Member of CSP
  • Acute NHS experience
Experience
  • * Broad range of experience as a student or post registration experience.
  • * Good basic knowledge and application of Physiotherapy practises
  • * Able to demonstrate clinical reasoning and decision-making skills
  • * Ability to work without direct supervision
  • * Good time management and organisational skills & ability to work across in & outpatients as required during the week.
  • * Good planning, decision making and problem-solving skills
  • * Ability to reflect on and critically appraise own performance
  • * Physically able to do the job
  • * Understanding of the legal responsibilities of the profession at all times
  • * Able to develop a therapeutic rapport with patients
  • * Ability to summarise treatment session (written and oral)
  • * To have competent IT skills
