Purchasing & Goods-In Assistant
Location: Sparkford, Somerset
Pay: £13.00 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday | 40 hours per week
Contract: Full-time | Permanent
Working: Fully on-site - no hybrid working

We are currently looking for a Purchasing & Goods-In Assistant to join our client's busy and friendly team in Sparkford
.
This is a varied role supporting both the Purchasing and Goods-In functions
, making it ideal for someone who is organised, proactive and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
You will assist with the day-to-day purchasing process, from sourcing suppliers and obtaining quotes through to raising purchase orders and monitoring deliveries. You will also provide support within Goods-In, helping to check incoming stock and maintain an organised and efficient working area.
The successful candidate will be confident, reliable and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the purchasing process from requisition through to delivery.
- Source suppliers and obtain competitive quotations.
- Negotiate where possible to achieve the best price.
- Liaise with internal teams to understand purchasing requirements.
- Raise and maintain purchase orders using Sage 50
. - Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing and stock levels.
- Monitor supplier performance and follow up on late or outstanding deliveries.
- Deal with supplier queries and support Accounts with purchasing-related queries.
- Assist with identifying opportunities to improve costs and purchasing efficiency.
- Support the wider Procurement team with administration and ad-hoc projects.
- Assist Goods-In with checking and booking incoming stock onto Sage 50
. - Help maintain the flow of products through Goods-In when required.
- Ensure the Goods-In area remains organised, tidy and efficient.
- Complete other duties as required to support the wider team.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in administration, purchasing, procurement or supply chain is preferred.
- GCSEs or equivalent qualifications.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office
, particularly Excel. - Experience with Sage 50 and/or CIM 50 would be advantageous.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence dealing with suppliers and negotiating prices.
- The ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
- A proactive approach and the ability to use initiative without constant supervision.
- Excellent attendance and timekeeping.
- A methodical and detail-oriented approach.
- The ability to work effectively in a busy, fast-paced environment.
- Own transport is essential.
The position is Monday to Friday and ideally 40 hours per week
