Deputy Head of Establishment - SC CLEARANCE - Taunton

Position: Deputy Head of Establishment - SC CLEARANCE NEEDED - Taunton
Current, active SC clearance is essential. Applications without it cannot be progressed.
We are recruiting on behalf of a Defence agency in Taunton for a senior leader to take ownership of security, estates and health, safety and fire across a single high-profile site.
You will act as Head of Establishment under JSP 850, reporting to the Director of Finance and Corporate Services and sitting on the senior leadership team. The role has three strands:
Estates and facilities . Set the site strategy and lead the programme of improvement works delivered through DIO. Act as the lead customer for hard and soft FM, whether delivered via DIO contracts or directly appointed contractors, and hold suppliers to value for money.
Security.  Oversee physical and personnel security under GovS 007 and JSP 440, advise the Chief Executive and the Senior Security Risk Coordinator, and act as Incident Manager and a member of the Crisis Management Team.
Health, safety and fire.  Act as Accountable Person under JSP 815 and JSP 375, manage the H&S and Fire Advisor, and provide assurance to the Board, the Executive Leadership Team and the Audit and Risk Assurance Committee, including annual assurance reporting to MOD.
You will manage a team of around eight covering security, personnel security, estates relationship management, building services and H&S/fire
What we are looking for:
Experience leading an estates and/or security function in Defence, or a closely comparable environment
Working knowledge of the Defence Manual of Security (JSP 440) and Defence safety management (JSP 375, JSP 815, JSP 850)
Experience managing DIO or other FM suppliers and holding them to contract
Confident presenting assurance and risk to executive and audit committees
Current, active SC clearance
Able to be on site in Taunton several days every week
Useful but not essential: NEBOSH or equivalent H&S/fire qualification, programme or project management experience, Defence estates or security training.
This is a site-based leadership role. Hybrid working is limited and candidates must be within realistic commuting distance of Taunton or willing to relocate.
