Team Jobs are currently recruiting for Skilled or Indentured Skilled Manual Turners to join our client at their Yeovil site. This is an exciting opportunity to work on precision aerospace equipment in a safety-critical environment, as part of an empowered and supportive team.
Working within a team environment and reporting directly to the Team Lead, you will be responsible for the manual turning of aerospace components in line with Manufacturing Instructions, Specifications, and Customer/Regulatory requirements.
Pay Rate: £22.41 p/h/ £22.84 after 12 weeks
Location:
Yeovil, Somerset
Working hours:
Week 1 - Monday to Thursday (07:00 to 15:30) & Friday (07:00 to 13:00)
Week 2 - Monday to Thursday (15:30 to 00:00)
As a Manual Turner, you will manufacture aerospace components from start to finish using centre lathes, ensuring all work meets strict quality, safety, and delivery standards. This is a hands-on, highly skilled role where precision, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of aerospace standards are essential.
Key Responsibilities- Setting and operating 2-axis centre lathes to produce bespoke aerospace components
- Manufacturing parts from start to finish to aerospace specifications
- Interpreting engineering drawings and following process documentation
- Carrying out Operator Control of Quality (OCQ), including stamping to confirm assemblies meet company and customer standards
- Ensuring on-time delivery by completing work to the required quality and schedule
- Working effectively within a lean manufacturing environment
- Collaborating with Designers, Engineers, and team members to achieve production goals
- Maintaining high Health & Safety standards at all times
- Engineering Apprenticeship (desirable but not essential)
- Proven machining experience, specifically Manual Turning (or similar machining background)
- Skilled in the use of hand measuring equipment including:
- Verniers
- Micrometers
- Thread gauges
- Plug gauges
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices
- Experience working within company processes and procedures
- Background in a customer-focused, target-driven environment
- Understanding of aerospace practices and the importance of safety-critical work
- PC literate (training on company systems provided)
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to use initiative
- Flexible and proactive approach
- Commitment to Continuous Improvement
- Ability to work in a structured, quality-driven environment
