Team Jobs are seeking experienced and skilled CNC Grinder to join our client's team in Yeovil. The successful candidates will be responsible for the grinding of aerospace components in strict accordance with manufacturing instructions, specifications and regulatory requirements.

Pay Rate

£18.99 per hour rising to £28.49 once you move to the night shift.

Yeovil, Somerset

Working Hours

Day Shift (Training):
Monday to Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm.

Night Shift: 34.5 hours per week. 22:00‑07:00 (Sun‑Mon, 8.5 h) and 00:00‑07:00 (Mon‑Thu, 6.5 h per day).

Key Responsibilities
  • Internal/External grinding using MDI CNC machinery, surface grinding and thread grinding.
  • OCQ – Operator Control of Quality (e.g., stamping to confirm quality of assemblies meet Company and Customer standards).
  • Ensure on-time delivery by completing work on schedule and to required standard.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, follow process layouts and documentation procedures.
  • Work effectively in a lean environment.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Engineering apprenticeship (desirable but not essential).
  • Knowledge of grinding tolerances / finishes to aerospace standard (0.0002" internal/external diameter, 2–4 µin surface finishes, 0.0002" concentration).
  • Honing experience.
  • Proficiency with hand measuring equipment (digital micrometer, comparators, air‑plug gauges, surface finish measuring equipment).
  • High standard of Health & Safety.
  • Adherence to Company processes & procedures.
  • Experience working in a customer‑focused environment and achieving targets.
  • Experience working with designers and engineers.
Skills and Attributes
  • Understanding of aerospace practice and safety‑critical work.
  • PC literate.
  • Demonstrated skills in Health & Safety, teamwork, flexibility and initiative.
  • Machining skills desirable.
  • Proactive and self‑developing; willingness to undertake further training (PC skills, manual handling, abrasive wheels, 5S, general Health & Safety).
Other Requirements
  • Pre‑employment drug screening is required.
  • Nationality must be UK, EU or NATO due to security requirements.
