Part-Time HSE Manager (Health, Safety & Environment) - Yeovil (Site-Based)

3-4 days per week | Salary: £18-£23 per hour

HRGO Recruitment is supporting a South-West based manufacturing site within the agricultural supply chain to appoint a Part-Time HSE Manager. This is a practical, site-facing role focused on legal compliance, risk reduction and continuous improvement across health, safety and environmental standards.

What you will be responsible for
  • Own and maintain the site's HSE systems, policies and compliance documentation
  • Provide competent HSE advice to site leadership, supervisors and operational teams
  • Plan and complete site audits, inspections and risk assessments (including reviews and updates)
  • Lead incident/near-miss investigations, identify root cause and track corrective/preventative actions to completion
  • Produce and deliver HSE training, briefings and safety communications
  • Maintain statutory records and support ongoing compliance requirements
  • Act as the point of contact for external stakeholders where required (e.g., regulators, insurers, auditors)
  • Support environmental management activities, including waste controls and monitoring of site environmental performance
  • Compile clear HSE performance updates and recommendations for management review
What we are looking for Essential
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)
  • HSE experience in a manufacturing/production/industrial environment (agriculture, food/feed, or similar preferred)
  • Good working knowledge of UK health & safety legislation (and ability to apply it on-site)
  • Proven experience completing risk assessments and leading investigations
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence day-to-day behaviours and standards
  • Able to work independently, prioritise workload and manage competing site needs
  • Competent with Microsoft Office
Desirable
  • IOSH membership
  • Environmental compliance/management experience
  • Experience delivering HSE training sessions/toolbox talks
  • Background in feed/food manufacturing or agricultural operations
Package
  • Flexible part-time working (hours agreed to suit site requirements and candidate availability)
  • Salary £18 - £23 per hour
  • Pension and pro-rated annual leave entitlement
  • Full time employee 31 days (inc BH)- pro rata for PT
