The Charter School of Educational Excellence Spanish Teacher understands and promotes the school's mission, vision, objectives, and policies both within and outside the immediate school community. The Spanish Teacher will be responsible for providing a classroom/instructional program that supports the individual needs of all children in accordance with the school's mission and values established by the school.
Responsibilities & Duties- Instructional Planning – Plan, organize, and provide instruction to assist students in mastering verbal and written skills in Spanish using individual and small group techniques.
- Provide instruction and experiences in learning the culture of the community.
- Use technology tools for instruction, planning, and communication and ensure student engagement.
- Eagerly learn new uses and applications of technology tools.
- Establish, nurture, and manage student-directed classrooms in which students work independently and in groups, play instruments, and use dance and movement to supplement and enhance the curriculum.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to create interdisciplinary units that teach grade‑level content knowledge and skills using Spanish.
- Promote students' self‑expression and exploration while deepening their knowledge and understanding of the Spanish language.
- Incorporate Hispanic history in ways that are engaging and meaningful to students and objectives.
- Speak clearly, audibly, and fluently.
- Adjust the teaching pace to assure maximum student understanding.
- Provide appropriate remedial and/or enrichment material whenever necessary.
- Measure student achievement and progress toward learning objectives using the school's formative and summative assessment tools.
- Provide ongoing and timely feedback to students on their progress toward meeting expectations and achieving goals.
- Use student data to reflect on effectiveness of lessons and student achievement progress in order to improve instruction and personal practice.
- Create and manage a responsive learning environment that enables students to feel safe, be creative, and develop to their full potential.
- Establish, model, practice, and reinforce age‑appropriate rules and discipline using school‑approved procedures; create and consistently use individual behavioral management plans as needed.
- Implement classroom procedures, systems, and routines that provide structure for students and maximize instructional time.
- Organize and supervise approved field trips to enhance classroom learning.
- Provide opportunities and supervise activities so students can demonstrate individually and in ensembles or large groups the skills and talents developed in the music program.
- Communicate effectively and maintain strong relationships with students, families, colleagues, and administrators.
- Establish, involve, and assist students in the development, maintenance, and evaluation of portfolios.
- Develop and use rubrics for evaluating student products and performances.
- Oversee and assist with student arrival/dismissal.
- Work closely with all members of the school community, model citizenship, collaboration, and support of one another.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Administration.
- Fluent in Spanish.
- Minimum of two years successful bilingual teaching experience.
- Able to create a highly efficient Spanish curriculum to be introduced and built on for increased fluency.
- Passionately dedicated to the school's mission with a steadfast belief that all students will receive a rigorous elementary foundation.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to develop rubrics, examine data and metrics that enhance student knowledge and promote superior work products.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with a diverse team of teachers and administrators.
- Knowledge of childhood development and demonstrated experience with executing planned lessons to meet the differential needs of each child.
