Position OverviewThe Electrical Cost Estimator will play a critical role in supporting major infrastructure projects by providing accurate, defensible electrical cost estimates with a strong focus on Electrical Duct Banks. This position is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and negotiating electrical change orders, ensuring alignment with project scope, contractual requirements, and industry standards.
Working within a consulting firm environment, the estimator will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and client representatives, serving as a trusted advisor on electrical cost matters. This role directly impacts cost control, contract compliance, and successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare detailed and accurate electrical cost estimates, with emphasis on Electrical Duct Banks.
- Review and evaluate contractor change order proposals for electrical scope.
- Lead and support negotiations of electrical change orders with Five Star Electric.
- Analyze project cost impacts and develop clear, well-documented cost justifications.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and client representatives to resolve cost-related issues.
- Ensure all estimates align with project scope, contract terms, and applicable industry standards.
- Demonstrated experience estimating, reviewing, and negotiating change orders.
- Proven, hands-on experience in Electrical Cost Estimating
, specifically for complex infrastructure projects. - Professional background working for consulting firms
, strongly preferred over construction contractor firms. - Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop clear, defensible cost documentation.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Prior experience supporting projects for the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (NYC DEP).
- Familiarity with large-scale public infrastructure or utility projects.
- Experience working directly with electrical subcontractors on complex electrical systems.
