Hr manager in game development

Prism Studio is an independent video game development company based in Malta. It is developing Heptic Arena, its first PvPvE multiplayer showdown shooter, and operates as a fully remote studio with a globally distributed team.

• Own full-cycle recruitment across the studio, from workforce planning and role scoping through sourcing, interviewing, offer negotiation, and hiring
• Partner with the CEO, department leads, and hiring managers to anticipate talent needs and identify capability gaps
• Recruit across technical, creative, and operational disciplines
• Translate business and production requirements into clear job descriptions that communicate the role, expectations, and company culture
• Build and maintain candidate pipelines, providing clear communication and timely feedback throughout the process
• Design structured hiring processes, including interview stages, assessments, evaluation criteria, and scorecards
• Lead offer development and negotiations
• Improve the ATS, recruitment workflows, candidate experience, and hiring metrics
• Monitor compensation trends in the games and technology sectors, particularly in European markets
• Conduct salary benchmarking and recommend compensation ranges
• Develop competitive and sustainable offers that balance market expectations, internal equity, and financial objectives
• Support leadership with workforce cost planning, payroll forecasting, and people-related budgeting
• Own the employee lifecycle from onboarding through development, retention, and off-boarding
• Build onboarding experiences that help new hires integrate and contribute effectively
• Manage HR operations, including contracts, employee records, payroll coordination, benefits, leave and absence management, HR systems, and documentation
• Maintain accurate, organised, and compliant HR records and processes
• Review HR workflows and identify opportunities to simplify, automate, or improve them
• Act as an approachable HR partner for employees and managers
• Provide a neutral and confidential contact point for workplace concerns, interpersonal challenges, and difficult conversations
• Identify potential issues early and help resolve them constructively
• Support managers with performance concerns, feedback, conflict, and other people-related situations
• Address unhealthy team dynamics and help promote accountability, direct communication, and effective problem-solving
• Manage disciplinary matters and terminations fairly and in accordance with employment law and company policy
• Monitor engagement, absence, workload, and turnover to identify retention and employee-experience concerns
• Partner with the CEO and leadership team on the studio’s culture, values, and ways of working
• Contribute to initiatives that improve employee experience, the working environment, and organisational health
• Partner with the HR team on engagement, well-being, inclusion, and psychological safety initiatives
• Develop remote-first initiatives, events, and team rituals for a distributed workforce
• Coach and support managers on interviewing, people management, HR policies, internal tools, and communication
• Use employee feedback and HR data to identify improvement opportunities and take practical action

• 5+ Years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a medium-to-large technology, gaming, or similarly fast-paced organisation
• Knowledge of Maltese employment law and/or experience employing and hiring people across multiple EU jurisdictions
• Strong full-cycle recruitment experience across technical and/or creative roles in the technology or gaming industries
• Experience designing and running structured hiring processes that balance speed with rigorous candidate assessment
• Experience managing candidate pipelines and proactively sourcing hard-to-find talent
