SUMMARY: Perform responsible work involving a variety of specialized assignments in a homeless family (with children) shelter; perform related work as required. The Shift Supervisor reports to the Security Manager. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Train new security employees in all aspects of the facility.
- Maintain standards for security office operations and traffic intervention.
- Assist the Facility Manager in preparing and executing fire drills and responding to fire emergencies.
- Conduct random rounds throughout the interior and exterior of the facility to monitor for hazardous situations, trespassers, illegal activities, etc.
- Respond by phone or in person to assistance requests from Shift Supervisors at other locations.
- Complete assigned paperwork, including logs, incident reports, CPS reports, and other documentation.
- Monitor the reception area and security at the front desk daily.
- Ensure the safety and security of clients and staff.
- Provide crisis intervention as needed.
- Enforce policies on drug-free workplace and no smoking.
- Attend and conduct meetings and training sessions as required.
- Serve as backup Security Manager when needed.
- Check inventory of equipment daily.
- Provide leadership during emergency situations within the security department.
- Perform all responsibilities of a Client Care Monitor.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate's Degree in social services, criminology, or a related field; or equivalent experience required. A valid NYS Security Guard License, Fire Guard License, and certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) are required. Must have a general knowledge of security systems, problem-solving skills, and decision-making abilities based on factual information.
Knowledge of video surveillance and fire detection/alarm systems is required. The Shift Supervisor must own a vehicle and be familiar with public transportation. A home phone is mandatory. Flexibility in days and hours of availability is required. Knowledge of shelter operations and familiarity with CARES and DHS shelter protocols is preferred.
Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
