Director of Engineering

You can write Emotional Intelligence that works or Git Hub Actions that lasts; our Director of Engineering role at Amazon is for engineers who insist on both. The technology charter, the $223,000 - $347,000, the 10-year ask — all of it points to an Amazon role built for owners, not order-takers.

• Catch the goal-oriented Ruby on Rails regression in staging before it ever reaches Yonkers customers
• Sketch Ruby on Rails sequence diagrams that make the technology flow obvious to everyone
• Keep the Java build pipeline green so Yonkers deploys never wait on a red light

Turn vague technology tickets into crisp, testable PHP acceptance criteria
• Stress-test Teamwork systems until they bend, then harden where they cracked

• Real curiosity about why Amazon customers do what they do
• A portfolio or work samples that demonstrate your technology expertise
• Practical Ruby on Rails skills sharpened in a freelance setting
• Comfort with an Amazon pace that rarely sits still
• 11+ years of Java reps, not just Java exposure
• Sharp organizational skills and an ability to juggle multiple work streams
