Responsibilities- Communicate job requirements and responsibilities to drivers.
- Take responsibility for day‑to‑day scheduling, counseling, and evaluation reports to local management.
- Conduct on‑scene accident investigations; assist drivers in preparing accident reports, OSHA reports, and safety violation documents.
- Design and deliver driver training and safety courses; train new drivers and retrain those involved in accidents.
- Observe drivers on the road and correct safety problems on the scene while documenting violations.
- Serve as liaison between drivers and both clients and organization on customer service issues.
- Evaluate and monitor driver safety and performance and ensure compliance with legal, employment, and labor policy matters.
- Assist Safety Manager with DOT/FTA compliance regarding drug testing and record‑keeping.
- Assist with dispatching, driving, interviewing, and miscellaneous clerical tasks as needed.
- Meet all driver qualifications at the location.
- Obtain a CDL required to operate vehicles at the location, maintain that license, and drive routes periodically.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma (or equivalent).
- Supervisory experience with hourly employees, with 2‑3 years of transit supervisory experience preferred.
- Computer literate with working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Familiar with basic vehicle mechanical processes and maintenance.
- Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time.
- Excellent verbal, written, and relational communication skills; fluent in English.
- Human resources and training experience.
- Work extended hours regularly, including Saturdays.
- Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Possess a working vehicle to travel within the service area as needed.
- Use of full range of hearing, speech, and vision.
- Use of fingers (manual dexterity) handling paperwork.
- Stooping, crouching, squatting, or kneeling when performing inspections.
- Bending at knees, hips, waist when performing duties.
- Standing while performing inspections and platform training.
- Be subject to wet, cold, or hot environmental conditions.
- Write reports coherently and legibly.
- Must be able to move around the office and between floors; use standard office equipment; access filing systems and cabinets; and communicate effectively in person or by telephone.
- Typical environments include office, transit facilities, maintenance facilities, and transit vehicles.
- Physically fit to board transit vehicles and inspect vehicles and facilities as needed.
