Part-Time Student Support Specialist – York Site

Position: Part-Time Student Support Specialist – York Site

Hours: Up to 20 hours/week

Typical Schedule:

Monday - Thursday 8:30am – 1pm; some Fridays required for training

Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree, required
• Global Career Development Facilitator, or willing to obtain within 1 year
• SC Teaching Certificate, preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Able to multi-task efficiently and effectively
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
• Proficient in the use of computer technology and standard office equipment
• Proficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel
• Proficient in using Google Docs, Sheets, and Forms
• Effective problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to establish and maintain effective cooperative relationships with all staff members, students, and others contacted in the course of work
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information
• Ability to motivate adult learners 17 and older

Essential Job Functions:

Test Administration:

• Complete required training for test administration.
• Conduct intake and orientation sessions for new students.
• Organize, set-up, and administer testing to adult learners.

College and Career Navigator Services:

• Assist students with goal setting and developing college/career plans.
• Meet with students to work on college and career-related activities, including employability skills development and assistance with resumes, college applications, and job applications.
• Work with the Fort Mill & Clover Student Support to coordinate presenters such as York Tech admissions representatives, military recruiters, and local businesses to speak with students.
• Connect students to supportive services.
• Follow-up with students and graduates.
• Complete required reports
• Participate in meetings, trainings, and workshops at the local, regional, and state level.

Instruction:

• Cover classes if the instructor is absent.
• Tutor face-to-face and online students in Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies as needed.
