Cleanroom Technician

This role supports a cleanroom-based manufacturing operation focused on chemical compounding, batching, and blending. The cleanroom technician prepares and monitors batches using various types of mixing equipment, ensures products meet quality standards, and maintains a strong focus on safety, productivity, and compliance. The position involves working with silicones and other chemical materials in a clean, climate-controlled environment and requires comfort with physical work, chemical handling, and the use of a respirator.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, monitor, and adjust batches using various types of mixing and blending equipment in a cleanroom manufacturing environment.
  • Follow batch sheets and written instructions to accurately mix, blend, and compound chemical products according to established formulations and procedures.
  • Load extruders by consistently lifting and handling large bags of silicone (up to 50 lbs), including lifting, bending, and pulling throughout the shift.
  • Clean and maintain large mixers and related equipment, including tilting mixers forward and using tools to scrape out materials with a taffy-like consistency.
  • Package finished products according to specifications, ensuring correct labeling, documentation, and adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Handle chemicals safely, following all safety protocols, personal protective equipment requirements, and respirator usage guidelines.
  • Participate actively in plant safety activities and initiatives, including reporting near misses and supporting continuous safety improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO- and other applicable quality requirements by following documented procedures and maintaining accurate records.
  • Use a computer to complete required training, submit maintenance requests, report near misses, and perform other job-related documentation tasks.
  • Check and respond to work-related email regularly to stay informed about procedures, schedules, and safety or process updates.
  • Operate a forklift and other powered industrial trucks as needed, following all safety procedures and site requirements.
  • Perform basic mechanical tasks related to operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting production equipment within the manufacturing area.
  • Work any of the three shifts as required, including the possibility of rotation based on business needs.
  • Stand for the majority of the shift while performing production, packaging, and cleaning tasks in the manufacturing area.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to support production goals, process improvements, and cross-training across multiple manufacturing departments.
  • Complete required paperwork accurately and on time, including production records, quality checks, and safety documentation.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with cleanroom and manufacturing standards.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited source.
  • 25 years of prior experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, ideally in chemical manufacturing, machine operation, or mechanical applications.
  • Prior experience in a cleanroom, production, or chemical manufacturing setting, including compounding, batching, and blending.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions related to batch sheets, safety procedures, and operating instructions.
  • Ability to perform basic math operations pertinent to batching, measuring, and recording production data.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs consistently and perform frequent lifting, bending, and pulling throughout the shift.
  • Ability to stand for the majority of the shift in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work any of three shifts, with the possibility of rotating shifts based on business needs.
  • Willingness and ability to be cross-trained and execute operations in multiple manufacturing departments.
  • Basic PC skills, including the ability to use a computer for training, documentation, and communication.
  • Ability to speak and write independently in order to complete required paperwork and interact effectively with the team.
  • Demonstrated focus on safety and process improvement in a manufacturing environment.
  • General math skills for measurements, calculations, and production reporting.
  • Basic mechanical skills to operate and support manufacturing equipment.
  • Good reading skills to interpret batch sheets, safety documentation, and operating procedures.
