Working within a small finance team in a quiet office environment, this role would suit someone who enjoys autonomy, takes pride in producing high-quality work and understands the importance of confidentiality and discretion. Responsibilities Produce monthly and quarterly management accounts for multiple entities. Prepare meaningful management reports using Sage and Excel. Extract financial data from Sage and manipulate it within Excel to produce accurate management reporting.
Prepare and submit VAT returns. Process bank payments and manage petty cash. Assist with payroll accounting, including posting payroll journals and understanding salary sacrifice arrangements. Prepare P11
Ds. Assist with annual budgeting and cash flow forecasting. Analyse costs across different businesses and properties to provide meaningful financial insight. Continuously improve existing reporting processes and management information. Ensure financial records are accurate and maintained in line with current legislation, including Making Tax Digital requirements. Support year-end processes and liaise with external accountants where required. About You We're looking for someone who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with excellent analytical skills and the confidence to work independently.
You'll ideally have:
Previous experience producing full management accounts. Strong Sage experience. Advanced Excel skills, including:
Pivot Tables, Lookup functions, Data manipulation Building and improving reporting packs Experience preparing VAT returns. Budgeting and forecasting experience. Good understanding of payroll accounting and related journals. Excellent attention to detail. A proactive approach with the confidence to solve problems independently. Outstanding organisational skills. Absolute discretion when handling confidential financial information. The position is currently 18 hours per week over three days, although there is flexibility to increase this to four days per week or to work shorter hours across five days to accommodate school hours or other commitments.
