Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and professional Site Manager to oversee a live commercial project in York up to the value of £2 million from groundworks to fit-out. This is a site-managed role, meaning you will not be on the tools. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the site, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard while maintaining excellent client and customer relationships.

As this is a live environment, you must be highly presentable, customer-focused, and confident managing both subcontractors and client-facing interactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate all on-site activities and subcontractors

• Ensure strict compliance with Health & Safety regulations at all times

• Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks, and regular safety inspections

• Maintain a clean, safe, and professional working environment

• Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and the project team to ensure smooth delivery

• Monitor progress against programme and report any issues or delays

• Ensure quality standards are met and snagging is managed effectively

• Maintain site documentation, including RAMS, permits, and daily reports

Requirements

• Valid SMSTS certification

• First Aid at Work qualification

• Proven experience managing commercial construction projects

• Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and site compliance

• Excellent communication and customer service skills

• Professional and presentable at all times

• Ability to lead, motivate, and manage site teams effectively
