Position Summary
Become a Production Apprentice at BBC Introducing, based in York – Radio York. You’ll learn on the job while working towards a Level 3 Production Assistant apprenticeship qualification, earning £22,950 for 13 months of full‑time work.

- Write scripts
- Edit audio
- Assist with live radio shows in the studio
- Help on events & gigs
- Possibly work remotely on another BBC Introducing show or support the local BBC radio station where you are based
- Passionate about music and radio within the scene you’re applying for
- Active in your local music scene, including attending gigs
- Creative, enthusiastic and eager to learn
- Interested in supporting emerging artists and contributing to music discovery
- Available to work evenings and some weekends
- Be at least 18 years old by the start of the apprenticeship in September 2026
- Have lived in the UK continuously for the last 3 years prior to the start date
- Be legally eligible to work full‑time in the UK for the entire duration of the apprenticeship
- Not currently enrolled in another apprenticeship programme
- No prior learning is required to apply
- For candidates under 19 on 8 September 2026, you must have achieved Maths and English GCSE at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) – otherwise, Functional Skills Level 2 will be required before the end‑point assessment
No CV or cover letter is needed; you’ll create a candidate profile and answer a few questions. If you’re eligible, the BBC will guide you through the next steps. You must live within a commutable distance of York – Radio York; for other locations, refer to other adverts.
Additional InformationRelocation support is offered to a limited number of apprentices each year and would be considered for this position, subject to qualifying criteria. Further details will be shared during the recruitment process. This is a fixed‑term apprenticeship lasting the duration of the scheme.
