GSL Education are seeking a passionate Attendance Officer to work with schools in Sheffield
, helping to improve student attendance and ensure pupils are supported to engage fully in their education.

As an Attendance Officer
, you will play a key role in monitoring attendance, working closely with students, families, and school staff to address absence issues and promote positive attendance habits.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and track student attendance, identifying patterns of absence or lateness.
  • Follow up on absences with parents/carers in line with school procedures.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and update school systems.
  • Work with pastoral teams to support students with attendance concerns.
  • Promote good attendance and punctuality across the school.
  • Liaise with external agencies where required.
Requirements of Attendance Officer:
  • Previous experience in an administrative or school-based role is desirable.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • A proactive and supportive approach when working with students and families.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
