About The Role

Every week Monday morning 10-12 at St James the Deacon, 2 Sherringham Drive, York, YO24 2SE
As a Singing for the Brain Facilitator Volunteer, you will utilise your musical knowledge and singing skills to support the facilitation and delivery of a programme of songs, musical activities and physical movements, ensuring sessions are flexible and responsive to the needs and interests of the people attending. You will play a key role in creating a fun and relaxed atmosphere where people feel supported and safe to engage with the activities, either online or in person.
ResponsibilitiesFacilitate structured group sessions designed around the principles of music therapy and singing for people with dementia.
Plan and deliver a variety of songs, musical activities and movement exercises tailored to the participants’ abilities and interests.
Ensure the sessions are inclusive, safe and engaging for both attendees and carers, whether held in person or online via Zoom.
Qualifications- Good verbal communication and facilitation skills.
- Strong music knowledge and ability to facilitate a range of songs and musical activities.
- Enjoy meeting people and being part of a team.
- For virtual sessions, proficient in navigating online platforms and experienced with Zoom.
- Demonstrated empathy and compassion.
Minimum age 18.
