Some pupils do not need a louder voice. They need consistency, patience, and a teacher who understands that progress in SEND often looks different from a mainstream classroom.

We are recruiting a SEND Teacher for a specialist school in West Leeds, supporting pupils who need structure, trust, and a tailored approach to learning. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about special educational needs, values meaningful relationships, and wants to make a lasting difference in a specialist or alternative education setting.

The Role
  • Plan and deliver lessons that are adapted to individual pupil needs.

  • Support children and young people with ASD, SEMH, PMLD, and complex needs.

  • Create a calm, safe, and engaging learning environment.

  • Work closely with TAs, SENCOs, therapists, and wider school staff.

  • Use flexible teaching strategies to support different learning styles and communication needs.

  • Celebrate small steps of progress and help pupils build confidence and independence.

About You
  • Hold QTS or have strong experience working in SEND settings.

  • Are calm, patient, and adaptable.

  • Build trust and positive relationships with pupils easily.

  • Understand that behaviour is often communication.

  • Are committed to supporting pupils in specialist, inclusive, or alternative provision settings.

Requirements
  • QTS or equivalent experience in SEND education.

  • A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach.

  • Confidence adapting lessons for a range of abilities and needs.

  • A solid understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Why Work With Us?
  • Weekly PAYE pay, with no umbrella deductions.

  • Free access to CPD, including SEND and behaviour support training.

  • A dedicated consultant who takes the time to understand what you want.

  • Opportunities across specialist schools, PRUs, and alternative provisions.

  • Long-term and permanent roles available.

  • Free Thrive training if you are not already trained.

Thrive Training

If you are already Thrive trained, that is a great advantage. If not, we can provide free training to help you support emotional development and strengthen your impact in SEND education.
