Calling all Pastoral Assistants, Behaviour Mentors, Youth Workers, Teaching Assistants, and passionate education professionals

We’re working with an outstanding secondary school in Bradford that’s looking for a permanent Pastoral Assistant to join their team. This is the kind of school people stay in — supportive leadership, excellent behaviour systems, and a genuine commitment to helping every student succeed.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to young people's lives by supporting their wellbeing, behaviour, and engagement in school. You'll be a key member of the pastoral team, helping to create a calm, safe, and positive environment where students can thrive.

What makes this school stand out?
  • Outstanding leadership and a genuinely supportive SLT
  • A welcoming and collaborative staff team
  • Strong behaviour systems with clear expectations
  • Excellent CPD and progression opportunities
  • A school community that values both staff and students
  • Opportunities to make a meaningful impact beyond the classroom
The role:
  • Being a visible and approachable presence around the school, supporting students throughout the school day
  • Building positive relationships with students to encourage engagement, attendance and positive behaviour
  • Supporting students who need additional pastoral or behavioural support, both in and out of lessons
  • Working closely with teaching staff, parents and external agencies to promote positive outcomes for students
  • Managing behaviour confidently, calmly and consistently in line with the school's policies
  • Supporting students with emotional wellbeing and helping them overcome barriers to learning
  • Contributing to a safe, inclusive and positive school environment
What we’re looking for:
  • Experience working with young people in education, youth work, coaching, care or similar settings
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the confidence to de-escalate challenging situations
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A calm, resilient and proactive approach to supporting young people
  • A genuine passion for improving outcomes for students
  • Graduates and aspiring teachers are warmly encouraged to apply

And if you’re Thrive trained, even better. If not, no worries — we can help with that too. Protocol Education offers free Thrive training to help you build even more confidence supporting pupils' emotional wellbeing in school.

If you're looking for a rewarding role where every day brings the opportunity to positively impact a young person's future, we'd love to hear from you.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.
