Curriculum Coordinator - GCSE English Hours : 37 hours per week (1.0 fte) Salary : £47,740 per annum. Plus generous benefits. Generous Occupational Pension Scheme (Teachers' Pension Scheme) About the role From the 2026-27 academic year our GCSE English provision will be integrated within curriculum areas.

Reporting to the Head of GCSE, the newly created role of Curriculum Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and improving the delivery of English qualifications at Level 2 and below across the College, including GCSE and Functional Skills provision for both young people and adults. You will develop high quality schemes of learning for GCSE English tutors and provide them with impactful teaching materials.

You will also teach up to 420 hours of English every year (approximately 12 hours/week), including small group intervention work. We are seeking a passionate and motivated English Tutor to join our team, working primarily with GCSE students aged 16-18. In this role, you will inspire learners, build their confidence, and support them in achieving their academic potential in English, ensuring they are well prepared for their exams and future progression.

About you A highly successful practitioner with a recent or current track record of high-quality teaching with high success rates, you will possess a relevant degree or professional qualification, and a level 5 (or above) teaching qualification. You will be a positive role model, with a passionate approach and a wide repertoire of methods of teaching to meet the needs of our students who study GCSE English alongside their chosen vocational course, capable of motivating reluctant learners enrolled to our foundation English provision.

You will bring proven experience of teaching English at GCSE level, ideally within a further education environment, and be confident in delivering the GCSE curriculum and preparing learners for their examinations. Strong administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with a collaborative approach to working within a team.
