GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are working with a school in Wakefield (WF8) that is looking for a Humanities Teacher to start as soon as possible. The role would suit someone who can plan effectively, manage a classroom confidently and help pupils make steady progress.
As a Humanities Teacher
, you will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons and creating a classroom environment where pupils can participate, ask questions and develop their understanding. You'll work alongside other staff to maintain consistent standards and support pupils throughout their learning.
Your responsibilities as a Humanities Teacher will include:
- Planning and delivering well-structured Humanities lessons.
- Adapting teaching methods and resources to meet different abilities and learning needs.
- Encouraging pupils to develop analytical, research and communication skills.
- Assessing pupils’ work and providing constructive feedback to support progress.
- Managing classroom behaviour effectively and maintaining clear expectations.
- Contributing to departmental planning and wider school activities where appropriate.
As a humanities teacher you should have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential for this position.
- Strong subject knowledge across relevant Humanities subjects.
- Previous teaching experience and the ability to manage a classroom confidently.
- A flexible approach to lesson planning and differentiation.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to complete a new enhanced DBS check.
