Teaching Assistant

A welcoming and supportive school in Wakefield is seeking a dedicated

Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting pupils' learning, development and wellbeing within a positive and inclusive school environment.

As aTeaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide effective classroom assistance, helping pupils engage with their learning, develop confidence and make positive progress.

• Provide classroom support to pupils across different year groups.
• Assist teachers with learning activities, lesson preparation and classroom organisation.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils who require additional assistance.
• Support literacy, numeracy and targeted learning interventions.
• Assist pupils with SEND, ASD, ADHD and SEMH needs.
• Encourage positive behaviour and promote pupil engagement.
• Support pupils with their social, emotional and academic development.
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence and communication skills.
• Support pupils who may experience behaviours that challenge.
• Adapt learning resources and activities to meet individual pupil needs.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.

• Previous experience working within a school or educational setting.
• Experience supporting children with additional learning needs or SEND.
• Confidence providing 1:1 and small-group support.
• A patient, caring and adaptable approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH or behaviours that challenge would be advantageous.
• Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant would be beneficial.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
• Team Teach training would be desirable but is not essential.
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• A fully checkable employment and reference history.

Competitive daily rates of £90–£120 per day.
