St Martin’s CE Primary School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, passionate and experienced class teacher, with the responsibility of teaching in Upper Key Stage 2; you will have the expertise to support our pupils to achieve excellence through effort, before transitioning to secondary school. Therefore, this role is not suitable for ECTs at this time.
We are working collaboratively with a local Federation, and hope for this role to continue beyond this fixed-term date.
Collaboration:
We are working collaboratively with Bugthorpe and Sutton upon Derwent C of E Federation. This brings opportunities to: have staff meetings together on Microsoft Teams; to share planning, resources and best practice; work in Subject Leadership Teams together across the Collaboration; share policies and procedures. All of this collaborative work enables both pupils and adults to flourish in our small, rural schools.
Our Class system:
Class 1 (Nursery and Reception);
Class 2 (Years 1 and
2);
Class 3 (Years 3 and
4) and Class 4 (Years 5 and
6). This role involves sharing the teaching responsibilities for Class 4 with the Head of School.
We can offer:
- Enthusiastic children who love learning.
- A vibrant, hardworking and supportive staff team.
- Smaller than average class sizes. Our PAN is 15.
- High quality teaching resources and a superb learning environment in a beautiful village location.
- Opportunities to develop leadership across two/three school sites.
Applicants are asked to include the following information in their supporting statements:
- Your experience and background.
- Why you have chosen to apply for this post – and specifically at St Martin’s CE Primary School.
- Evidence that you are a capable and talented classroom practitioner.
- Your curriculum strengths, talents, interests and expertise.
For any visits in person, please contact the School Office to arrange an appointment.
Online applications close on 5 November. Applications will be received at the school up until 9am on 6 November.

Schools applicationsThis school does not have the resources to send individual notifications to all applicants who are not shortlisted so if you have not been contacted within 2 weeks of the closing date you should assume you have been unsuccessful.
If selected for interview, an online search will be conducted for candidates. This is in line with KCSiE 2022.
DBS/Medical checkThis post is subject to an enhanced DBS clearance check. The school is committed to safeguarding children and promoting their welfare. All members of staff are expected to share this commitment.
