The role sits in the English and Mathematics department at Askham Bryan College, a specialist land-based college, teaching GCSE maths resits with some entry-level learning. The work centres on planning well-structured lessons that identify and fill gaps in knowledge, plus shared resource development. Its 22.2 hours a week suit someone with teaching experience from any education sector who uses mastery and scaffolding methods.
A degree, a teaching qualification and an enhanced DBS check are required.
- Plan, prepare and teach agreed contact hours to a high standard
- Teach GCSE maths resits, with some entry-level (pre-GCSE) learning
- Identify and fill gaps in students' knowledge
- Ensure compliance with the Study Programme and funding condition requirements
- Implement the College quality management system
- Collaborate with colleagues to produce high-quality lessons in a time-efficient way
- Support the development of resources and improvements within the department
- Contribute to cross-college events and marketing activities
- Degree or above in a relevant subject
- Teaching qualification (Level 5 teaching qualifications accepted)
- Teaching experience in maths
- Strong knowledge of the GCSE maths curriculum
- Well-structured, engaging teaching that fosters student success and engagement
- Enhanced DBS check
- Disclosure of all convictions and cautions, including spent ones, as a condition of employment
- Online searches as part of pre-recruitment checks
- Knowledge of entry-level (pre-GCSE) qualifications
- Teaching experience in English
