Technical Publications Engineer – Job Details
Job Title: Technical Publications Engineer
Location: Huddersfield 4 days per week OR Derby 3 days per week
Role Type: Contract - OUTSIDE IR35
Duration: 12 months
Rate: £45.00 Per Hour
Candidates must hold British nationality, have lived and worked in the UK for 5+ years, and be eligible for SC security clearance.
Responsibilities- Author and update installation manuals, maintenance procedures, service manuals, engineering change documentations, and assembly/disassembly instructions, and other client‑facing technical documentation.
- Interpret mechanical drawings, CAD models and BOMs to develop user‑centric documentation.
- Collaborate with design engineers, manufacturing, and product teams to understand product functionality.
- Develop content for 2D/3D illustrations using tools such as Solid Edge or equivalent.
- Work within customer processes, systems, equipment, and facilities, including maintaining standards, procedures, processes, and SOPs in accordance with national standards, international standards, and customer requirements.
- Support project meetings, supplier meetings, and customer meetings, providing updates and support on metallurgy function‑related issues as required.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Experience in an engineering design role/environment involving rotating machinery.
- Experience in heavy engineering industry, power transmission systems, gears and gearboxes.
- Appreciation of bolted joint analysis, shock assessment in relation to geared transmission systems.
- Strong technical writing and editing skills.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and 3D models.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and mechanical assembly.
- Proficiency in authoring tools.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with structural design practices and methodologies.
- Experience in designing mechanical components, parts, assemblies and subassemblies for heavy industry, power transmission systems, gears and gearboxes.
