Electrical Design Engineer
Salary: £35,000–£45,000 plus comprehensive benefits including healthcare, pension, and death in service.
Role OverviewAs an Electrical Design Engineer, you will design and develop electrical control systems for complex, engineered‑to‑order machinery in a UK engineering manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Design electrical control panels and systems.
- Produce detailed electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical.
- Select and specify electrical and electronic components for control panels.
- Produce BOMs and support procurement activities.
- Collaborate with mechanical and project teams to ensure integrated design solutions.
- Provide occasional site visits (no commissioning‑heavy travel).
- Opportunity to develop PLC programming knowledge.
- Experience with electrical industrial control panel design, preferably in machinery or OEM settings.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or willingness to transition from AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of control panels, schematics, and component selection.
- Ability to produce accurate technical documentation and BOMs.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Qualified or working towards a qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering with a solid academic foundation.
- Experience in control panel design and/or build, including sizing and selection of switch gear and associated components.
Location:
West Yorkshire – commutable from Leeds, Bradford, Guiseley, Shipley, Brighouse, Huddersfield, Wakefield, Keighley, Dewsbury and surrounding areas. Potential for hybrid/flexible working after probation.
