Overview
An exciting opportunity to lead the delivery of high-voltage direct current (HVDC) cable infrastructure as part of a nationally significant electricity transmission programme. This role is central to enabling the UK’s energy transition and strengthening cross-border grid connectivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of HVDC cable delivery, from design through commissioning
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning
- Interface with internal stakeholders, contractors, OEMs, and grid operators
- Ensure compliance with technical specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Oversee project controls including budget, schedule, risk, and reporting
- Support contract management under NEC or FIDIC frameworks
- Drive quality assurance and performance across all phases of delivery
Requirements
- Proven experience delivering large-scale electrical infrastructure projects, ideally HVDC or transmission-related, in the UK.
- Strong understanding of converter station systems, grid integration, and high-voltage technologies
- Familiarity with project controls tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and contract management
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or related discipline
- Chartered status or professional certification (e.g., PMP, APM, PRINCE2) preferred
- Full working rights for the UK.
- Be part of a transformative energy infrastructure programme
- Work on cutting-edge HVDC technology and grid innovation
- Long-term career development in a growing sector
- Competitive package and collaborative team culture
This role will initially be supporting one of the main projects in the GGU, but in the first 12 months could well transition into a leading function on another interconnector project across the UK.
