Police Community Support Officer

• Conduct visible patrols and security duties at stations
• Provide victim care and support
• Manage security threats and assist with crime prevention
• Investigate minor crimes and report findings
• Build and maintain community relationships
• Support Police Constables and other officers as required
• Operate handcuffs and other BTP equipment when authorised

Ideal candidates will:

• Demonstrate resilience and excellent customer service skills
• Show passion for community engagement and partnership‑building
• Be able to work a range of shifts, including weekends and bank holidays

• Competitive salary from £28,486.92 up to £31,895.68
• Shift allowance: minimum 15% (up to 20%) after 8 weeks of training, increasing annually
• 28 days holiday rising to 30 days, plus statutory holidays

• Unsuccessful at BTP PCSO in the last 6 months
• Unsuccessful after online testing for PCSO, Police Officer or Special Constable for 6 months
• Unsuccessful BTP vetting checks within the last 12 months
• Any custodial sentence, including suspended, or other serious convictions
• Previous dismissal from another force or currently under investigation
• Declared bankrupt or with a CCJ/IVA
• Offensive tattoos, front‑face or neck tattoo considered on case‑by‑case basis
• No permanent right to live and work in the UK
• Not resident consistently in the UK for the past 3 years

The BTP GPP Police Staff Pension Scheme (administered by Royal London) is a defined contribution scheme. Employees can choose contributions between 4.4% and 12% of their salary. Existing Police Staff who are members of the RPS will not be affected.
