PTS Ambulance Care Assistant

We are currently recruiting for a PTS Ambulance Care Assistant for York Ambulance Station. This is a full time, permanent role – we are interested in candidates who share a value and belief in delivering the highest standards of quality service and patient care.

- Fri for 4 weeks, full attendance is required. You must be available to attend the training course in November 2026.

Please note: you must have a full UK manual driving licence to apply for this role.

Responsible for the care and safe transportation of non-emergency PTS patients.

Ensuring timely transportation to and from appointments at hospitals, treatment centres, day units or other places of care.

At all times the post holder must ensure patient safety and reduction in harm to patients, self, colleagues, and others by assessing risks and adopting safe manual handling working practices.

• Level 2 entry requirement e.g. 3 GCSEs grade A*-C or NVQ level 2 qualification or equivalent experience.
• Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
• Ability to carry out manual handling including the lifting of patients and equipment.
• Proven ability to handle sensitive situations professionally, assertively, and tactfully.
• Basic IT skills e.g. word, e-mail.

• Full driving licence with no more than three penalty points for new entrants to YAS or a maximum of six for existing YAS employees.
• Able to work as part of a team.

• Background in a customer or patient orientated field.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills gained from experience of dealing with customers or members of the public.
