At Woodlands Neurological Rehabilitation Centre, part of Active Neuro, we are looking for an experienced and passionate Lead Occupational Therapist to join our specialist multidisciplinary team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with a strong background in neurorehabilitation to provide clinical leadership to the OT team, while continuing to deliver high-quality, evidence-based rehabilitation to patients with complex neurological needs. As Lead Occupational Therapist, you will provide leadership to the Occupational Therapy team and play a key role within the wider MDT, supporting the Head of Therapies to develop and deliver an effective, innovative OT service.
You will have the opportunity to influence service development and strategy, support the development of junior therapists and students, and help shape best practice across the service.
Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you will maintain a clinical caseload and provide specialist occupational therapy assessment and intervention, helping patients regain as much functional ability and independence as possible.

The Role:As part of our transition to Active Neuro, the therapy service is evolving into a seven-day model of care to better support the rehabilitation needs of our clients. As a result, occasional pre-arranged weekend working will be required. You will also be expected to work Bank Holidays as required by the service, with enhanced pay provided in line with company policy.
Key Responsibilities:- Providing clinical leadership, supervision and support to the Occupational Therapy team, including Band 6 therapists, assistants and students.
- Supporting the Head of Therapies with the ongoing development of the OT service and wider therapy strategy.
- Completing comprehensive occupation-based and occupation-focused assessments.
- Developing and delivering innovative, evidence-based interventions underpinned by neuroplasticity and motor re-learning principles.
- Supporting safe and timely discharge planning, including community assessments, home visits and home access assessments.
- Prescribing and providing appropriate equipment throughout the rehabilitation journey.
- Completing robust risk assessments and developing and reviewing care plans.
- Working as part of a highly collaborative MDT to assess, formulate and plan individualised rehabilitation programmes.
- Acting as a Key Worker, coordinating therapeutic programmes to achieve agreed rehabilitation goals.
- Supporting and educating patients, families and carers around acquired brain injury and the role of Occupational Therapy.
- Developing and delivering in-service education and training to the wider MDT.
- Contributing to service development, including the OT provision within the outpatient service.
We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist who has a strong background in neurorehabilitation and/or working with people with neurological impairment. You will be confident working with patients who may present with complex physical, cognitive, emotional and behavioural needs, and be able to build effective relationships with patients, their families and colleagues.
- HCPC registration.
- RCOT registration.
- Significant experience working within a neurological or neurorehabilitation setting.
- Experience of functional assessment of adults following acquired brain injury.
- Experience supporting patients with complex cognitive, emotional and behavioural impairments.
- The ability to manage and prioritise a complex clinical caseload.
- Strong clinical reasoning, assessment and report-writing skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
