This is a hands‑on, influential role where you’ll manage complex casework, support a team of 3, and play a key part in organisational change.

If you’re comfortable working in a unionised environment and have experience handling TUPE and change programmes, this role will give you the scope to really make an impact.

What you’ll be doing
  • Leading on a wide range of employee relations cases including disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, and investigations
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to senior managers on ER matters and risk mitigation
  • Managing and developing a team of 3 ER/HR professionals
  • Building strong, effective relationships with trade union representatives
  • Leading and supporting TUPE transfers, ensuring compliance and smooth transitions
  • Playing a key role in organisational change projects, including restructures, consultations, and redundancies
  • Supporting and leading on negotiations and collective consultations
  • Ensuring policies and procedures are applied consistently and in line with employment law
  • Analysing ER trends and driving proactive, preventative solutions
What we’re looking for
  • Solid experience in an Employee Relations Manager (or similar) role
  • Proven experience working in a unionised environment (essential)
  • Hands‑on experience managing TUPE processes and organisational change programmes
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
  • Experience managing or mentoring a small team
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence, challenge, and build credibility at all levels
  • Sound judgement and the ability to handle sensitive, complex situations
